JAKARTA, KOMPAS TV – Research results from researchers Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) states there is potential tsunami as high as 20 meters in the south Java Island.
The research results, which have been published in the journal Nature Scientific Report on (17/9/2020), are considered worrying if they really happen.
Responding to that, the Head of the Earthquake Mitigation Division and Tsunami BMKG, Dr. Daryono, appreciated the research results.

The reason is that this scientific study conducted by ITB researchers is able to determine the maximum potential magnitude of the megathrust earthquake and the worst case scenario.
However, until now, existing technology has not been able to predict precisely and accurately when and where an earthquake will occur.
“The resulting model scenario is the worst case, and this can be used as a reference in mitigation efforts to reduce the risk of earthquake and tsunami disasters,” said Daryono quoted from Kompas.com on Friday (25/9/2020).
