Paris’ statements about providing security guarantees to Ukraine entail a risk for France itself. Such decisions lead to further escalation of the crisis. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko.
“This (providing security guarantees to Ukraine – approx. URA.RU) is a step towards further escalation and raising the stakes in the hybrid war against Russia that the West unleashed. I am sure that the French should also understand that this is fraught with increasing risks for the security of France itself,” Grushko said on Channel One. Now the issue of security guarantees to Ukraine from France is under discussion.
In mid-July, the G7 countries discussed security guarantees for Ukraine. The list of guarantees provided included: increased support for Kyiv, the transfer of fighter jets and artillery to Ukraine. Despite this, the agreement did not contain precise information about the timing of deliveries and the amount of weapons. Paris also decided to hold the first round of negotiations with Kiev on the topic bilateral guarantees. But the final guarantees will be signed only in 2024.
