Potential Coronavirus Vaccines “Safe For Humans” After 109 Adult Tests

The first coronavirus vaccine has now been classified as “safe for humans” in a groundbreaking study.

Researchers at the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology in Beijing, China, who conducted the study, say the vaccine elicits a quick immune response to the deadly disease.

The study was conducted on 109 healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 60 and showed promising results after 28 days – the final results are to be evaluated in six months.

New research results, which were published in the medical journal The Lancet, describe the result as an “important milestone”.

“The study shows that a single dose of the new COVID-19 vaccine (Ad5-nCoV) with adenovirus type 5 produces virus-specific antibodies and T cells in 14 days, making him a potential candidate for further testing,” said Professor Wei Chen from The Beijing Institute of Biotechnology said.

“These results are an important milestone.

“The challenges in developing a COVD-19 vaccine are unprecedented, and the ability to trigger these immune responses does not necessarily mean that the vaccine protects humans from COVID-19.

“This result shows a promising vision for the development of COVID-19 vaccines, but we are still a long way from having this vaccine available to everyone.”

Further studies are needed to determine whether the immune response elicited can effectively protect against SARS-CoV-2 infection, but the signs are promising.

Creating an effective vaccine against the killer virus is seen as a long-term solution to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are currently more than 100 candidates for COVID-19 vaccines in development worldwide.

The new COVID-19 vaccine with Ad5 vector is the first to be tested on humans.

It uses a weakened cold virus to deliver the genetic material that makes up the coronavirus in human cells.
