Sweet potato is a snack that many people like to eat; Due to its good taste and many health benefits, but excessive consumption of it is also dangerous, according to Dr. Intisar Saad Shaaban Mahmoud, teacher of life chemistry and nutrition at the Girls’ College, Ain Shams University, to “Masrawy”.
Potato Benefits:
A source of carbohydrates, which helps provide the body with energy.
It contains beta-carotene, which is considered one of the antioxidants, which helps reduce the appearance of free oxygen anemones and convert them into less toxic substances and thus help prevent the destruction and aging of cells.
They contain carbohydrates, and thus contribute to providing the body with the necessary energy.
Easy to digest.
It contains vitamin A.
Excessive intake leads to:
The body gains more calories.
Weight gain or even obesity.
Because they contain Vitamin A, excessive intake of them leads to vitamin A poisoning.
The life chemistry and nutrition teacher pointed out that people who suffer from stomach-related diseases such as colitis, high blood sugar or chronic constipation, should consult a doctor to calculate the appropriate amount for them, confirming that one can eat a potato per day as a maximum.
