Potap’s Controversial German Concert: Russian Retro Artist Performance Sparks Outrage

Potap will perform in Germany as a ‘Russian retro’ artist. What is known

On April 13, a concert by Ukrainian rapper Alexey Potapenko (Potap), who, despite the full-scale war, remains abroad, is scheduled to take place in the German city of Bielefeld. During the show, the musician is going to sing old hits of the groups “Potap and Nastya”, “Time and Glass” and Mozgi. Everything would be fine, but on the poster the artist is presented as a representative of “Russian retro”.

Star observer Bogdan Bespalov drew attention to this, sharing his thoughts on this matter in blog. He also noted that there is no hint on the poster about the charitable basis of the concert, although usually artists, when organizing an event to raise money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine or any other assistance to Ukraine and Ukrainians, indicate this information.

Meanwhile, the poster says in large letters: “RUSSIAN RETRO – POTAP LIVE.”

According to Bespalov, the poster is always approved by management and the star himself, that is, Potap could not have been unaware of the presentation of himself as a “Russian retro artist.”

The blogger expressed his opinion: “On his Instagram, the artist often says that he glorifies Ukraine to the whole world. Perhaps “Russian retro” is one of Potap’s effective tools? with the poster puts an end to the transparency of his pro-Ukrainian intentions and reputation.”

Subsequently, Potap commented on this situation, assuring that a poster was used at the venues, which was not finally agreed upon with the artist’s side.

“In fact, this is not the first, and not the hundred and first, situation when the organizers can add some kind of logo (sponsorship or something else) or just some little things from themselves to the poster. Unfortunately, this is an organizational issue, which happens from time to time when working with announcements,” the star’s representatives said.

Finally, the musician himself got in touch. In his Instagram he posted a video explaining and apologizing.

“I know, you’re fussing about the poster – rightly so. This is a human factor. And I’m not the only one who found myself in such situations. They called me whatever they called me, but not like on this poster. It was not an agreed upon poster. And we put it up it has now been corrected. I apologize to everyone who was outraged by this. Come to the concerts. It’s good that they haven’t given me some ancient German symbol yet. I invite everyone to the concerts. It will be fun,” Potap commented.

As OBOZ.UA managed to find out, a situation where an artist is not aware of what is depicted on the poster is usually impossible in principle. At least two sources in the media market assured us that performers always [афишу] agree.

“If an artist claims he didn’t see the poster, it’s nothing more than a ‘standard excuse,’” the insider told us.

It is also surprising that stars of such a level as Potap cover the songs of their subordinates at concerts – for example, the group “Time and Glass,” one of the sources added.

OBOZ.UA previously wrote about Potap’s scandals. The rapper called some of the fans’ reproaches “nonsense” and called himself an athlete who “environmentally lives defeat.”
