The Postobón companies completed the delivery of 1,433 life and health insurance policies to recyclers, in order to improve their living conditions and dignify their work. The company reported that the recyclers are in nine departments and are part of the FARO Postobón program (Strengthening Associations of Professional Recyclers).
The insurance provides economic and assistance support, with coverage in cases of natural death or for any other cause, serious illnesses, funeral, medical and hospitalization expenses, basic family basket and total or partial disability.
The beneficiaries belong to 16 recycling associations that are part of the FARO program, in the departments of Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Valle, Quindío, Magdalena and Sucre.
“Within our Circular Economy program, we set out to provide comprehensive help to professional recyclers, because they are a constituent part of advancing in the use of materials, especially post-consumer containers and packaging. These life insurance policies represent a direct form of support not only for them but also for their families,” said Martha Ruby Falla González, Director of Sustainability at Postobón.
FARO Postobón is part of the company’s circular economy program, which was created at the end of 2020. This initiative seeks to increase the levels of use of PET, glass, cardboard and aluminum, supporting recyclers’ associations with the development of comprehensive plans. More than 28,000 tons of materials have been managed, of which 78% corresponded to containers and packaging, which were reincorporated into production processes.
