At the twelve schools there is ‘delay or loss’ of final exams for some subjects. These schools report this to the Education Inspectorate, which will issue further instructions. According to a spokesman, the search for the documents is ‘day and night’ and there is hope that they will still turn up.
In total, PostNL will deliver 80,000 shipments this year with more than a million exams of 200,000 candidates throughout the Netherlands. Resi Becker, director of Mail Netherlands: ,,I find it very unfortunate that some students have to wait longer for their grades, or perhaps have to retake their exams through no fault of their own. We all know how exciting it is to get the redeeming phone call. We are very sorry that the delivery did not go well everywhere. We are taking extra measures and working day and night to be able to deliver the exam shipments as quickly as possible.”
PostNL calls on schools to carefully follow the instructions of the VO Council for shipping in the second and third periods. For example, there is a special exam envelope and stamp, so that the shipment goes in the right process. Furthermore, the advice to schools is always to make a copy of the exams just to be sure.
Later this evening, the Ministry of Education will send a letter to the House of Representatives about the matter.
