For some time now, the PostePay alert has broken out due to cyber attacks or fraudulent requests for payments. How to protect yourself? The problem is not linked to the world we live in, or post offices, but to the digital environment, often contaminated by unfair and fraudulent people. To overcome the problem we must be extremely careful to whom we direct our payment or receipt of money.
Hackers manage to trace our personal data and suddenly empty our bank account. Not surprisingly, cybercriminals take advantage of people who neglect to take the necessary precautions, hoping to catch them in a moment of weakness, when the guard is let down. Beyond making payments or receiving money from known and trusted people, we must also be careful not to leave our data unattended.
Change passwords often
One of the most effective ways to avoid compromising online accounts is to change passwords regularly. It is not uncommon for hackers to simply try all the most popular passwords on our account. If we have been using the same password for years or, even worse, the same password for countless accounts, it is very likely that the bad guys will find it pretty quickly. S.
The password must be changed every three months and a different password must be created for each account. It will obviously be impossible to remember all the passwords but for this reason there are applications in which we can keep all our passwords so as not to have to memorize them. We pay close attention to Wi-Fi connections as hackers can get on the line with ease. Plus, they can easily create dummy Wi-Fi connections in public areas without us noticing. In this way they intercept all data transmitted over the network, including sensitive information sent.
The best way to avoid this type of attack is to only use Wi-Fi connections that you trust. Or, to protect yourself from these types of attacks, you can use a virtual private network (VPN). VPNs are services that create an encrypted connection between our device and the internet. Thanks to this protection, your data will be protected from prying eyes.
E-mail phishing
Another method adopted by hackers is to send an email saying that we must take some action on our account. We enter from the link that is provided to us and unconsciously we give away our sensitive data. This type of scams are more and more frequent. We can protect ourselves by not clicking on the link sent and trashing the email.
