Postcom: Private parcel service cheated on minimum wage

Postcom caught a private parcel service from Bern evading the minimum wage. For this reason, the regulator imposed a fine of 6,000 francs and obliged the offending provider to pay additional wages. The company filed a complaint against this with the Federal Administrative Court.

As the Sunday newspaper writesthe delivery service completely dismissed it. He accepts the current verdict, but criticizes the fine as disproportionate and arbitrary. The guilty verdict sheds further light on how the providers undermine standard working conditions in the industry.

The convicted company paid out a bonus as part of the entire monthly salary and not as an additional component to the salary. In addition, in some cases the permitted weekly working hours were exceeded.

The Syndicom union is astonished by the current case: “In our work in the companies, we have not come across any similar tricks to undercut the minimum wage,” says a spokesman for the employee organization. (pd/spo)
