“Postcard from Rome” Film Gains Emotional Acclaim: Screening Dates and Recognition in Latvian Cinema

“I heard that after the film, a viewer had a “pleasantly sad” feeling. One couple promises to go to Rome for a silver wedding. Others think that you should live here and now more often. There are those who laugh, there are those who cry. Audiences flock to the film and think about it. It brings me great joy.”

Andris Gauja, the distributor of the film, one of the producers and the author of the music, admits that he has not yet fully appreciated the emotional power of this story during the editing process of the film.

“Before the film’s press screening, it never occurred to me that “Postcard from Rome” would be able to grab people so tightly on the emotional level and not let go for a long time, as many viewers have publicly stated. In all screenings where we meet the audience, emotions run through the air – including our actors.”
