Anyone who is a customer of Postbank could have been very annoyed recently. Suspended accounts and a lack of customer service are a source of complaints.

Dortmund – Over hundreds of complaints have already been received by the NRW consumer advice center. The reason: numerous customers cannot access their accounts. The consumer advocates speak of “existential problems for those affected”.

Postbank customers cannot get their money: P-account offers those affected financial protection

According to the consumer advice center, more and more customers are complaining about Postbank’s catastrophic handling of seizure protection accounts (P-account). A P account enables indebted customers to park 1,410 euros a month untouched in the account. This is to ensure that the debts due to overdraft facilities and arrears do not get any bigger. These fixed allowances are thus protected from seizure.

To do this, the customer must have their checking account converted into a P-account at the bank. Such “basic protection”, as the consumer advice center calls it, can be increased with appropriate certificates depending on the customer’s situation.

For people with debt, P-accounts are of great importance. Because such an account protects the money from seizure and offers a certain amount of financial protection (more on finance at RUHR24).

Postbank customers can’t get their money – problems with P accounts lead to trouble

But the actual theory does not seem to be realized in practice at the moment. Because holders of a P account at the Postbank are currently reporting numerous problems. Despite the conversion from a giro account to a P account, those affected did not receive any basic allowances for weeks, which is why the money was not protected from seizure. Normally, the garnishment protection should be in place after just a few days. Some of these problems had existential consequences for customers.

The consumer advice center also reports customer complaints about an increase in the allowance. The process takes far too long. Even if the garnishment had long since been lifted, accounts that had already been blocked were not released. This led to financial difficulties for those affected.

The costs for rent, electricity and telephone are not executed as standing orders from the P account. Customers also cannot withdraw cash to shop in supermarkets or discounters. Postbank customer service was noisy chip.de very slow and sometimes hardly or not at all accessible.

Postbank customers can’t get their money – those affected should file a lawsuit

For this reason, the NRW consumer advice center is advising all those affected to file a lawsuit against the Postbank and gives one formulation help before. Customers can request the payment of the account balance in an interim procedure. Postbank customers should also be wary of perfidious scams.

According to the newspaper, the consumer center has HE DOES even the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (Bafin) turned on. In addition, she has filed a supervisory complaint against Postbank, since there are no apparent solutions by Postbank or the parent company Deutsche Bank. It remains to be seen which legal steps will follow.
