Postbank is closing branches, and Hesse is also likely to be affected. But details remain open.

Following Deutsche Bank’s announcement that it will close up to 250 of its current 550 branches at its Postbank subsidiary over the next two years, the impact on the Rhine-Main region and Hesse is still unclear. A Postbank spokesman said on Tuesday that discussions with the relevant employee representatives would be necessary before a decision was made about closing or maintaining individual locations. There are a total of 43 branches in Hesse, most of which – twelve – are in Frankfurt. In the Rhine-Main area, Postbank also has two branches in Offenbach, Darmstadt and Wiesbaden, and one in Mainz and Hanau.

Postbank said that stationary sales channels continued to play an important role for personal advice, but no longer to the same extent in the medium term. According to the plans, the remaining Postbank branches will provide services for customers as so-called tech centers.
