The registration process for those who wanted to have the right to vote by mail in the European elections has been completed. In total, more than 200,000 citizens were registered.
According to a post by Mrs. Kerameos, the total number reached 202,556, with the majority of them being within borders. To be precise, 153,322 are from the interior and 49,234 from abroad.
Expatriate Greeks will vote from 128 different countries with the majority coming from Germany, Great Britain and the USA. Specifically, the largest number of registrations was recorded in Germany (9,578), the United Kingdom (9,090), the USA (3,857), Belgium (3,491), the Netherlands (3,119) and Cyprus (2,808).
Ms. Kerameos’ post states: “FINAL DATA: 202,556 Greek citizens will vote by mail in the European elections the first time the institution is implemented in our country, even surpassing the barrier of 200,000! 153,322 from the interior and 49,234 from abroad – 280% more than the Greeks abroad who voted in the National elections of June 2023.
The registrations of Greeks from abroad have been made from 128 different countries, in most of which there was no polling station in the last elections. For the first time in the history of our modern Republic, there will be no practical obstacle to exercising the right to vote! We sincerely thank the Citizens for their assistance in this first implementation of postal voting in our country, a valuable tool that deepens Democracy!”.
