Polish President Andrzej Duda
We sincerely welcome your state visit to Korea.
Following my visit to Poland in July last year,
President Duda’s visit to Korea is the first state visit by a Polish president in 11 years.
In the meantime, I have been in close communication with President Duda and built a friendship.
Today’s meeting is already the fourth meeting with President Duda.
In this meaningful year when the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Poland celebrated the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations,
I am pleased that our two countries are communicating more closely and interacting more actively than ever before.
Korea and Poland over the past 35 years
Based on the common values of freedom, human rights, and rule of law
We have deepened mutually beneficial cooperation in many areas.
In particular, in 2013, a “strategic partnership” was established
We have laid the foundation for further development of the relationship between our two countries.
Now the two countries are jointly responding to various global challenges.
It has grown into a reliable ally and true friend.
Today, Korea is Poland’s second largest investor.
Trade between the two countries has continued for six consecutive years.
It is breaking an all-time high.
During my visit to Poland last year to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Korea-Poland Strategic Partnership,
Our two leaders will deepen cooperation in strategic areas such as defense, energy, and high-tech industries beyond economic and trade.
I promised to leave.
At today’s meeting, President Duda and I
We confirmed and inspected that the follow-up measures were being implemented steadily.
In addition, to further deepen and develop the strategic partnership between the two countries,
We discussed the options in depth.
First of all, including the “K2 Tank 2nd Implementation Agreement,” which the two countries are discussing with the goal of reaching an agreement within the year,
To ensure that Korea-Poland defense industry cooperation progresses successfully
The two governments agreed to provide active support.
Today’s international security situation is
It’s more serious than ever.
Based on the trust that the two countries have built so far,
Establish a regular consultative body between national defense and defense industry authorities,
that can contribute to mutual security and national defense
We will seek ways to cooperate together.
Additionally, to strengthen energy security and high-tech industries,
The two countries agreed to continue joint efforts.
To this end, nuclear energy and new and renewable energy
We decided to work together to explore various ways to expand carbon-free energy production.
Additionally, last year, the two countries
When I visited Poland
To deepen cooperation in research and development with high-tech industries and science and technology
Dozens of various memorandums of understanding have been signed.
Encourage the steady implementation of these Memorandums of Understanding,
We decided to expand investment at the government and private levels.
Through this, the two countries will establish a cutting-edge technology strategic partnership encompassing clean energy, batteries, future vehicles, autonomous robots, and biotechnology.
We will continue to build it.
For the continued development of bilateral relations
Active human and cultural exchanges between future generations
Even though it is necessary to support
The leaders of both countries deeply agreed.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Poland.
Various cultural exchange events and increased direct flights between the two countries,
We hope that this will lead to expansion of tourism and human exchange.
Today, President Duda and I
Korea and Poland share values
As a responsible member of the international community
Contribute to international peace and stability,
To protect the rules-based order
We confirmed once again that we will continue to stand in firm solidarity.
Our two leaders will discuss North Korea’s nuclear and missile development and provocations,
And he strongly condemned illegal military cooperation with Russia.
In particular, we agreed that North Korea’s deployment of troops to Russia, which directly violates the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions, is a provocation that threatens the security of the entire world beyond the Korean Peninsula and Europe.
I believe that the Republic of Korea will never sit idly by and will work with the international community step by step depending on the progress of Russian-North Korean military cooperation.
We made it clear that we will take necessary measures.
Poland is a member of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission.
We have worked together for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The two countries aim to achieve the denuclearization of North Korea and improve the human rights of North Korean residents.
We will continue to cooperate.
Lastly, for the restoration and reconstruction of peace in Ukraine
We also agreed to strengthen joint efforts between our two countries.
Our government last year
〈Ukraine Peace and Solidarity Initiative〉
It has been announced.
I ask President Duda on this basis.
Support for the Ukrainian people
We will continue to expand,
We said we would closely cooperate with Poland in the process.
Korea and Poland,
Feeling the pain of war more than anyone else
I know it well.
Ukraine as soon as possible
Escape from the devastation of war
To open up a new future,
We will work together to discover support measures for peace and reconstruction in Ukraine.
As we steadily implement the matters discussed with President Duda today,
Korea and Poland
I hope we can envision a brighter future together.
thank you
