Post-country group Kaligo releases a song together with “X Factor” sensation Luka

The post-professional group “Kaligo” has released a new album “Es bij’ meita”, made together with Luka, who was a participant in the TV show “X Factors”. This is the second single from the band’s debut album which is due in the autumn. Together with the director Krišjāni Pleiko and his video brand “Upeskino”, the video of the song was also made.

The musical author of the song “Es bij’ meita” is Kristaps Karps, a member of the group “Kaligo”, and the text inspiration was found in Latvian songs. “When a musical motif appeared in my head, I started moving through the songs,” says Kristaps. “I was caught in the section dedicated to different variations of ‘I was a girl, I was a power’ and I liked the energy. It coincided with my musical idea, and a cheerful song about the independence, character and charm of girls and women was created.”

The appeal of singer Lukas (real name Elizabete Lukaševiča) gives this song a special youth flavor, and the young musician is also very happy with the overall result: “This is not the first time I arranged the country song “Es bij’ meita”, but the group “Kaligo” gave it a new power!” It should be noted that the solo guitarist especially pays attention to the power. “Kaligo” is a post-folk group founded last year, consisting of Diāna Logina (vocals), Marita Karpa (box), Edijs Ostapko (guitar), Kārlis Bērziņš (keyboards), Jānis Narbuts (bass) and Kristaps Karps (drums, percussion, vocals). The group’s repertoire includes Latvian folk songs, various world music, as well as folk-inspired original music at “Kaligo” published “Pērkons veda Saules meitu” just last fall, but now their volume is expected to be much larger.

The video clip created for the new song was filmed in an urban environment – in the center of Riga and in the creative industrial cultural space “Provodniks”, as well as in the forest and by the sea in Jūrmala, where dancers dance. the school “Dzirnas” helped to create the visual image. “In this short musical film, I chose to show the female nature and its diversity,” said the director of the clip, Krišjānis Pleiko. The concept of “Upeskino” is to explore the power of cinema and combine it with the expressions of a creative field another, and this time it’s the music of the post-country group “Kaligo”. The clip was created during the four-day filming process, and is the most advanced “Upeskino” music short film project to date.
