This Thursday, the diocese of Dijon on its website published a press release from the Archbishop of Dijon Antoine Hérouard about Father Dominique Nicolas, who died in 2021 and who “exercised numerous ministries in the diocese of Dijon”.
Father Dominique Nicolas is the subject of “a detailed report to the diocese concerning abuse of a sexual nature”. These acts were allegedly committed against a young person, a minor at the time, “while Father Nicolas was at the parish of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul in the 1980s”, specifies the archbishop in his press release. And to specify: “Another report, concerning the same period, was received at the end of the 1990s.”
“Duty of truth”
Through this press release, Mgr Antoine Hérouard, who “measures the distress that this information can create in the various places where Father Nicolas exercised his ministry”, wishes to “allow possible victims to make themselves known” and thus be able to “benefit from the support of the Independent National Recognition and Reparation Authority (INIRR)”.
“The duty of truth that we owe to victims as well as their support must always be the first priority,” concludes Archbishop Antoine Hérouard.
