The Ecuadorian Executive branch, led by the president Daniel Noboacontemplates a total veto of the law that seeks a direct allocation of resources to Municipalities, Prefectures and Parish Councils, as reported Ecuavisa.
Citing official sources, the television channel reported that a total veto, which would prohibit discussing the law for a year, is being analyzed by the Government. The Executive argues that, with the current tax collection, granting the money to local governments would imply delaying the payment of bonuses and salaries.
On May 7, the National Assembly approved changes to several laws with the purpose of ensuring resources for the Decentralized Autonomous Governments. The new regulations were promoted by the president of the Legislative Branch Henry Kronfle and establishes specific deadlines for the transfer of money to Prefectures and Municipalities. (I)
