Possible Rainstorm Threat on Libya’s Eastern Coast: Updates from Meteorological Center

Libyan pages on the social networking sites “Facebook” circulated news about the danger of the eastern coast being exposed to a new rainstorm, which may be more violent than “Daniel,” which struck the same region, leaving victims and missing persons, in addition to severe damage to infrastructure and public and private facilities.

These pages talked about the formation of a depression over the island of Cyprus, which may move south towards the Libyan coast early next week, causing heavy rains and strong winds, which was denied by the Director of the Information Office of the Libyan National Meteorological Center, Mohieddin Ali.

Mohieddin said, in a statement to Sky News Arabia, that there are no significant weather fluctuations that the country will be exposed to until next Monday.

Hot air mass

The center’s forecasting department expected that the northwestern regions would be affected by a hot air mass today and tomorrow, causing temperatures to rise to between 43 and 39, with relatively active winds, while the weather would remain unchanged in the rest of the regions.

Temperatures will range between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius in the northeastern cities, while reaching 39 degrees Celsius in the southern regions, according to the administration, which predicted that the heat wave will break in the northwestern regions next Saturday, when the weather will moderate with clouds increasing, without any indication of falling. Rain.

Depression in southern Europe

Weather experts are monitoring the formation of a depression in the southern region of Greece in the region between it and Italy, where its movement is likely to complete in the period from September 25 to 30, according to what weather analyst Abdullah Al-Khatib said, who points out the turbulent nature of this depression, which makes estimates about it change every day.

Initially, expectations were for the center of the depression to form over northern Tunisia, western Libya and eastern Algeria, but its coordinates changed and it began to form south of Cyprus to the north of the Egyptian coast, and also the coast of eastern Libya, according to Al-Khatib, who pointed out that it is not possible to expect a rainstorm to form because of it until now.
