– We have already reported several times that WWE is hoping for a match from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at “WrestleMania 38” in Dallas. First and foremost, one speculates of course on a singles match between Rocky and Roman Reigns, but there should still be a plan B. A tag team match between Reigns and Rock with one of the Uso brothers at their side is also discussed within the company. The background is that you could protect the Hollywood megastar better than in a singles match. At 49, Johnson is no longer one of the youngest and a wrestling match naturally also carries a high risk of injury, which must be covered by insurance. At WWE, they think any match with The Rock is better than no match with the Superstar, so they keep the tag team match in hand. This Plan B could also be a reason why Jimmy Uso did not receive a sentence from WWE and generally kept a low profile regarding his re-arrest.

– For months there has been speculation about a return of Davey Boy Smith Jr. to WWE, last night the time had come. The son of the late WWE Hall of Famers “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith Jr. played a dark match before yesterday’s “Smackdown” edition. At the side of NXT star Austin Theory, he won against Odyssey Jones (fka. Omari Palmer) & Xyon Quinn (fka. Daniel Vidot). The 34-year-old was announced under his real name Harry Smith. Smith was already under WWE contract from 2006 to 2011, after his release he was active for New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2012 to 2019. According to PWInsider, he agreed on a contract with WWE in March, but this was kept a secret until yesterday. After the show, WWE posted an interview with Smith on Youtube:

– Xia Li and Aliyah also fought a dark match yesterday before “Smackdown”. We already reported that Aliyah is about to switch to the RAW roster.

– After “Friday Night Smackdown”, the audience got to see another dark match on site. Big E won a Battle Royal in which not only Shinsuke Nakamura, WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews, Commander Azeez, Finn Balor, Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro but also the former slapjack competed under his new and old name Shane Thorne. Like his RETRIBUTION colleague Mia Yim, Thorne will appear on “Smackdown” in the future.

– After Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox, Toni Storm is known to be the third NXT wrestler to join the Smackdown roster. It was announced yesterday that the 25-year-old New Zealander will make her debut in the coming week.
