Possible Mine Explosion Destroys Ship “Pavel Derzhavin”

According to the channel, the ship “Pavel Derzhavin” could have been blown up by a mine. Several subscribers from Sevastopol reported that they heard a dull explosion at about 10 a.m.

Later, representatives of the canal discovered a ship and a boat in the sea near Sevastopol during the day. Judging by the size of the ship – approximately 60 meters – it could only be a minesweeper.

What they say in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Speaker of the Odessa OVA Sergey Bratchuk posted information about the explosion of the ship. He added that the ship “according to preliminary information, was blown up by a mine.”

Press officer of the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine Natalya Humenyukalso expressed her position, but clarifies the information.

“Given the sloppiness that representatives of the Russian Black Sea Fleet allow themselves… either they will hold a meeting in the wrong place, or they will enter the wrong sea. Anything is possible. We are clarifying the circumstances,” said Natalya Gumenyuk, press officer of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine.

Ship explosion

In Sevastopol, for unknown reasons, the patrol ship “Pavel Derzhavin” of project 22160 of the “Vasily Bykov” type exploded.

The ship’s armament includes:

8 launchers of Kalibr-NK cruise missiles, 2 launchers of Redut-M anti-aircraft missiles, 2 A-190 artillery mounts of 100 mm caliber, 2 RBU-6000 rocket launchers, 2 torpedo tubes of 533 mm caliber.

It is known that during the full-scale war in Ukraine in June 2022, the Pavel Derzhavin strengthened its armament with the Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile system mounted on the stern.

In September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Simferopol hit the Ordzhonikidze repair plant and damaged the landing ship Minsk and the submarine Rostov-on-Don. According to media reports, the attack was carried out by Storm Shadow missiles.
