Almost all members of the British royal family have their say in the new documentary. Charles and his sons William and Harry, among others, share memories of Philip. The interviews with the royals were recorded before and after the death of the Duke of Edinburgh on April 9.
You can see how Charles calls his father on April 8, the day before Philip would die. Queen Elizabeth’s husband would have turned 100 on June 10, so his family was busy planning a party. Charles broke the news to his father and got a response in style.
“We’ve been talking about your birthday and whether there’s going to be a reception or not,” Charles says. Philip’s reaction afterwards was quite ironic. “Then I must still be alive, huh?” Charles couldn’t help but laugh at that moment. “I knew you’d say that!”
