‘Possible jumping gear’ in German train turns out to be a false alarm

German police had found a suspicious package in a parked train in Cologne. It was a suspicious item, filled with nails, screws and black powder. The police thought of a jumping gear, but it turned out to be false alarm.

It was a cleaner who made the discovery. The train was parked in the Deutzer Feld marshalling yard, near Cologne. The area was cordoned off as a precaution. Because it is not clear whether the package could be detonated effectively, the police did not mention a bomb, but they searched the area for more suspicious items.

After investigation it turned out that it was not a jumping gear. The nerves were tense: just today Germany is celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the reunification of East and West Germany.
