Possible Gas Leak Found in Kerkstraat in Kommerzijl: Enexis Alerted for Further Measures

A possible gas leak was found under the street in Kerkstraat in Kommerzijl on Saturday evening. According to the photographer present, some local residents have been smelling a strange smell for some time after the street was open for work last week. Tonight, a gas odor was smelled from under a parked car.

The fire brigade mixed some water with soap and poured it on the ground. This confirmed the suspicion of a possible gas leak under the street: the mixture immediately began to bubble on the ground, indicating an outflow. As a precaution, the fire brigade carries out various measurements, both in homes and on the street.

The NUTS manager, Enexis, has been alerted to carry out further measurements together with the fire brigade and to repair the gas leak. It is not known how big the leak is and how long it will take to repair.
