Sarina Wiegman is on a shortlist of possible candidates for the national coach of the Dutch national team, reports The Telegraph. When Ronald Koeman’s term comes to an end, Wiegman comes into the picture seriously.

Sources within the KNVB have announced that Wiegman, who reached the World Cup final with England Women, is a serious option with the Orange men. Her candidacy is considered ‘stronger than ever’ after her fourth final in a row with a women’s team. Wiegman reached the final of the World Cup and European Championship with the Orange Lionesses and did the same with the national women’s team of England.
Should Wiegman actually become national coach of the Dutch national team in the future, that would be an absolute first. Never before has a woman been at the helm of a national men’s team. However, Wiegman recently hinted that she has no intention of leaving England. Recently, Wiegman was also linked to the national coachship of the men’s team of England.

Koeman still has a contract with the KNVB up to and including the 2026 World Cup. Since his return to the Orange, things have been difficult for the Dutch national team. Three of the four matches led by Koeman were lost.
