Possible Appointment of Pierre-François Mourier as the New Rector of Reunion

In a few days – on August 1, 2023 – Chantal Manès-Bonnisseau, rector of Reunion, will give up her place at the head of the rectorate to retire. If for the time being, the official name of his successor is not known, a name is circulating and should be announced this Thursday, July 13 during the Council of Ministers. It is that of Pierre-François Mourier.

According to information from AEF info, Pierre-Francois Mourier director general of France Éducation International (FEI), should be appointed rector of La Réunion.

State Councilor, former student of the École Normale Supérieure (rue d’Ulm), graduate in classics, Pierre-François Mourier taught Latin language and civilization at the University of Lille 3, was editorial secretary of the magazine Esprit and director of the department of human sciences at the National School of Landscape in Versailles.

At the beginning of the 2000s, he became adviser for education and culture to the President of the Republic. He also held the position of cultural attaché in New York, then between 2007 and 2010, that of consul general of France in San Francisco.

Appointed French Ambassador to Slovenia in 2012 after having been Deputy Director General of the Center for Strategic Analysis for two years, he has been at the head of France Éducation international since March 2018.

A possible successor who – Chantal Manès-Bonnisseau hopes, will take into account the current files. “I trust the ministry. I know that I am part of the continuity and that my successor will be part of the continuity and will put his mark and adapt to the local context”, declared the rector.
