Possibility of thunderstorms and freezing temperatures approaching the New York area – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – The extended stretch of good weather ends Thursday, with one more day of pleasant temperatures before threats of heavy rain and thunderstorms return.

Although not as warm as the previous days, most of Thursday will be dry with highs near 60 when the winds turn towards the coast and the cloud cover increases in the afternoon.

The rain comes after midnight, although the heaviest rain, along with possible thunderstorms, comes after early Friday’s trip. Winds can reach gusts of up to 30 mph, although adverse weather conditions are not expected with this system.

The rain should come out late in the morning or at noon on Friday.

The driest weather moves from Friday night to Saturday, although there may be some showers on Saturday afternoon.

The freezing temperatures arrive Sunday as another low pressure system runs through the Midwest toward our region. It may be enough to produce a few snowflakes in Pike, Sullivan and Ulster counties late on Sunday and Monday.

Expect highs only in the 40s until the middle of the week.
