The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine assures that all recorded events are expected and occur within the framework of previously announced forecasts
Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov assures that the possibility of a significant escalation from Russia continues to be assessed as low.
“We have full information and a realistic assessment of the situation. Now there can be many different hypothetical assessments and forecasts, especially in foreign media. Some even announced the Russian invasion, which, however, happened 8 years ago. The duty of the military is to calculate all possible scenarios, even the worst ones, and do everything they can to neutralize threats. This is what is happening now. The likelihood of a significant escalation as of today continues to be assessed as low, “the website of the Ministry of Defense quoted Reznikov as saying.
According to the minister, all recorded events are expected and occur within the framework of previously announced forecasts.
“At the moment, everything is happening within the framework of our assessments. In a few days, the active phase of the Russian-Belarusian exercises will begin, which will last until February 20. At the same time, exercises are planned for part of the units of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation. Units from the Eastern and Central military districts of the Russian Federation are arriving in Belarus, which we have been monitoring for several weeks. Some units are still on the way. From our side, everything necessary is being done to control such situations,” he assured.
Reznikov added that unprecedented military assistance from partners has significantly increased Ukrainian resistance capabilities.
“Our military is already actively training with defensive weapons. This is a very effective means of deterrence. The deployment of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is also gaining momentum. A large number of preparatory measures are being taken with citizens,” the minister said.
Recall, National Security Adviser to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan on Sunday said that, according to the United States, “there is a very high probability that Vladimir Putin will give order to attack Ukraine“.
A U.S. official told Reuters that a full-scale Russian invasion could cost Ukraine between 5,000 and 25,000 troops and between 25,000 and 50,000 civilians. If Russia invades Kiev, it could fall within days, according to US officials.
