Washington— The Secretary of Defense of the United States, Lloyd Austin, reported this Sunday that he tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms.
The 68-year-old Pentagon chief said that not only is he fully vaccinated, but in early October he received a booster injection, which has made his “infection much milder than it would have been.”
“This morning I tested positive for Covid-19. I requested the test today after showing symptoms while at rest home. My symptoms are mild and I follow my doctor’s instructions,” Austin said on his Twitter account.
“In accordance with those instructions and the CDC guidelines, I will self-quarantine at home for the next five days.”
He added that the last day he met with President Joe Biden was December 21, more than a week after his symptoms began. He said that that same morning he tested negative for the virus.
