The contamination figures were reported on Sunday by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). On Saturday, the institute registered 3,221 new positive results.

Daily numbers fluctuate and are often relatively low on weekends. The weekly averages provide a better picture of the current situation. Looking at this, a downward trend has been visible for about two weeks.

The number of corona cases is steadily decreasing per week. A total of 28,262 people were tested positive last Monday to Sunday. In the week before there were more than 38,000 and the week before more than 52,500.

In Amsterdam, 130 people received a positive result in the past 24 hours. Most corona infections were detected in Rotterdam last 24 hours, a total of 176. In The Hague there were 120. In Utrecht (71) and Tilburg (64) a relatively large number of new corona infections came to light.

Hospitals decline again

On Sunday afternoon there were 1714 patients with the corona virus in Dutch hospitals, on Saturday there were 1731. The LCPS reports. It is the sixth day in a row that this number is declining. Of the current patients, 610 are in an IC unit, eight more than the day before.

The RIVM also reports 8 new deaths as a result of the corona virus. That is not to say that all of these people have died in the past 24 hours; this information is sometimes passed on with a delay. On Saturday, 19 new corona-related deaths came to light.
