The summer season is coming to an end. After a summer affected by changing weather conditions, some tourist establishments draw a rather positive balance sheet in Côte-d’Or.
Summer is the season that some businesses look forward to making the biggest numbers of the year. But this summer season was marked by capricious weather, enough to play tricks on traders.
However, in a hotel in downtown Dijon, the team can have a smile. Despite the vagaries of the weather, the clientele did not shun Burgundy. In this month of August, this establishment of 35 rooms even displays an occupancy rate of 93%. A radiant summer, driven in particular by foreign customers.

“Despite a weather not always good, we had a great summer”is satisfied Mathilde Pascal, receptionist. “We had a lot of French people, but also a varied clientele with a lot of Dutch, Australians and Americans. We still have this little lack of Asian clientele. But 2023 is going to be a good year.”
According to the first trends, the tourist balance sheet for 2023 should be better than that of last summer, which was already a great success, with a 5% increase in overnight stays in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. 71% of professionals in the sector say they are satisfied or even very satisfied.
The campsite managers are the most enthusiastic, especially at the three-star Saulieu campsite. “It was a firstexperience for us and it’s been a very good season, we’re very happy with this first draft. There were a lot of people and a lot of family, it’s very pleasant”welcomes Romane Jouin, campsite manager.

Inflation has apparently prompted some French people to look for more economical holiday ideas. “We have been almost full all season. We have a rather local clientele, people who don’t go very far, who want to have fun and get away from it all while staying close to home. Their home is an average of 1h30 away from 2 hour drive from here.”
In Dijon, the tourist office records a 6% increase in visitors compared to 2022. “Even if the many visitors arrived later this year, the attendance in July and August is positive, with certain days of peak attendance at the Forges reception (between 1,600 to 2,000 people/day)”assures Florence Bucciacchio, in charge of press relations.
At the level of the tourist office, we have noticed good attendance in our premises. The off-season looks very positive with many reservations from leisure and business tourism groups.

“French customers represent 69% of our visitors. Foreign visitors are present, they represent 31% of reception requests, an increase of 12% compared to 2022.
And summer is not over. In an opinion poll, a majority of tourism professionals in the region show great optimism. The off-season should still attract, according to them, many tourists.
