Tests that determine whether chemotherapy is necessary for cancer patients are still reimbursed
Two tests that can predict whether chemotherapy is needed in specific cases of breast cancer are reimbursed by basic insurance. For almost five hundred patients, this could mean that they do not receive unnecessary chemotherapy.
According to Sjaak Wijma, chairman of the board of the Dutch Healthcare Institute, the tests can prevent “overtreatment” of cancer patients. That is better for the patients and for society. “It’s a real win-win situation,” says Wijma.

Jeffrey Hoogland has set the world record in the 1 kilometer time trial. In Aguascalientes, Mexico, he completed the kilometer in 55.433 seconds. With this he broke the old record of 56.303 seconds of François Pervis. Pervis set that record ten years ago.
Hoogland was extremely happy. “I wanted to remain associated with the sport forever with a world record. The fact that I have now succeeded feels fantastic,” he said afterwards.
