It was four years ago, in December 2019. The commune of Bouscat in turn received the tram with the inauguration of line D. Stops concentrated around Avenue de la Libération, where Alexandra Copmartin works, manager of the C3C Couture store, and president of the Association of Calypso and Écus merchants. The tram brought her “much more visibility and a turnover which has increased by 20%”. “I even have people call me from the tram when they see the sign,” she says. Of the fifteen traders who make up the association, “Others tell me it hasn’t changed anything but no one says it’s bad.”
However, at the beginning of the 2010s, before the start of the work, Bouscatais traders were rather hostile to the tram, scalded by the prospect long works. A period of three years, “difficile”, remembers Alexandra Copmartin. “We couldn’t drive on my street at all,” rue Raymond-Lavigne, where his shop was located at the time. “Businesses have closed,” she emphasizes, despite compensation from the town hall.
Overall, three years after the arrival of the tram, “the Bouscatais also takes the tram”, notes Alexandra Copmartin. “It took a while before the Bouscatais no longer had the idea of taking the car.”
