The holiday play children design many motifs and show their creativity at the graffiti workshop in Watzenborn-Steinberg.
Pohlheim (ger). The children don’t get bored during the holiday games in Pohlheim, especially when they can be creative themselves. Ten young people recently showed their artistic potential in a graffiti workshop as part of the event. With the professional sprayers Scid and Harti from Giessen, they designed walls and a garage door in front of the newly planned youth center on Ludwigstrasse in Watzenborn-Steinberg.
Practiced handling spray cans
Scid and Harti brought paint cans and pens and the necessary know-how from ten years of practice, and the young people aged between eleven and thirteen brought their ideas. The two professionals showed them the appropriate techniques to make their wishes come true on walls and canvas. They also practiced using the spray cans. Beforehand, they showed how to sketch the picture on the surface and fill it with the right color.
The young people had plenty of ideas. On a wall around the corner, sheep and a unicorn were playing in a dream landscape of palm trees and tropical flowers. For the teenagers’ room at home, they painted their own pictures and collages on canvas. Nele (11) and Pauline (13) had chosen the mysterious Hogwarts School of Magic in a full moon landscape for their picture. Both are fans of Harry Potter and so their self-made picture will decorate their room at home.
Nice memory
But pictures with the emblems of Bundesliga teams such as Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich or a picture of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo with the number 7 on his back were also in demand, and not just from the boys. The participants not only beautified the future youth center, but also had a vivid memory of two wonderful days with their own graffiti to take home. At the end, Scid and Harti were happy that the young people had brought a lot of positive energy and great ideas with them.
This was also emphasized by Elke Leyrer from the Pohlheim Youth Office, who already drew a positive conclusion from the holiday games with 375 children taking part. A clear increase compared to last year.
