Positive Case of Brucellosis Detected in Bovine Animal in Paraguay: Senacsa Health Monitoring and Alert Committee Takes Action

The Senacsa Health Alert and Monitoring Committee took 38 samples and only one tested positive for the disease.

The National University of Asunción (UNA), in Paraguay, indicated this Wednesday that a positive case of brucellosis was detected in a bovine animal in the country.

Through a statement, he specified that the Health Alert Protocol has been activated preventively.

“Note that the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the National University of Asunción will fully comply with the current legal regulations established by the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa) in the National Program for the Control, Prevention and Eradication of Bovine Brucellosis”, refers to the text.

For her part, the dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences of the university, Viviana Ríos, explained that the animal was not in contact with the students and that they rule out a greater possibility of contagion.

Ríos added that the Senacsa Health Monitoring and Alert Committee took 38 samples and only one tested positive for the disease.

In addition, he explained that the referred animal had received the vaccine against brucellosis.

Every year, the South American country carries out two vaccination campaigns against bovine brucellosis and thus maintains the disease-free health status.
