POSCO International, led by coach Jeon Hye-kyung, represented Incheon in the women’s table tennis team match at the 104th National Sports Festival held at the Mokpo Indoor Gymnasium in Jeollanam-do on the 17th and defeated Korean Air (Jeju), coached by Kang Hee-chan. They won with a match score of 3 to 2.
Until last year, they had won the competition two times in a row. POSCO International competed as POSCO Energy last year, and won again this year after changing its affiliation.
In particular, POSCO International has Yang Ha-eun and Kim Na-young missing due to participation in the World Table Tennis (WTT). Nevertheless, Kim Ye-rin, Yoo Han-na, Yoo Si-woo, and Kim Byeol-nim worked together to achieve the win. POSCO International, which defeated Mirae Asset Securities (Chungnam) in the round of 16 and Geumcheon-gu Office (Seoul) in the quarterfinals, defeated difficult opponents one after another, including Samsung Life Insurance (Daegu) in the semifinals.
They then defeated Korean Air in the finals. Korean Air also missed Shin Yu-bin due to preparation for the WTT, but advanced to the finals led by national team member Lee Eun-hye.
At POSCO International, singles bronze medalist Yoo Han-na defeated Park Ga-hyeon 3 to 0 in the first singles match. For Korean Air, Lee Eun-hye also defeated Kim Byeol-nim 3 to 0, but in POSCO International, Yoo Han-na and Kim Ye-rin defeated Lee Yu-jin and Park Ga-hyun 3 to 0 in the doubles.
The final 4th and 5th singles matches were also close matches. Korean Air’s Kim Ha-young caught Yoo Si-woo in the 4th singles match to bring the game to a close, but Kim Ye-rin defeated Lee Seung-eun 3 to 0 to end the close match.
