Porzingis as leader in Portland; Minnesota beats Boston with 2 surprise guests; Charlotte crushes Houston; Utah goes on

With Kristaps Porzingis in season record mode (34 points), the Mavericks won 132-117 in Portland. Dwight Powell also broke his season record with 22 points and Brandon Knight, off the bench, brought him 8 points for his third game with Dallas. Damian Lillard was the Blazers’ leading scorer with 26 points, ahead of Nassir Little with 20 points and 10 rebounds. With the game tied for 41 all over a Blazer dunk, the Mavs took control in a 38-24 dominated 2nd quarter. Porzingis scored 24 of his 34 points in the 1st half (72-53 Dallas).

In San Antonio (deprived of Dejounte Murray, in protocol) and without Donovan Mitchell (back) but with a good duo Jordan Clarkson (23 points at 9/21) – Rudy Gobert (16 points, 13 rebounds), the Jazz won a 4th consecutive game, 110-104. The Spurs came back to 108-102 on an 8-0 with 22 seconds remaining but Clarkson sealed the victory on 2 free throws.

Minnesota with 29 points from Jaylen Nowell and 20 points and 11 rebounds from Nathan Knight beat Boston (37.1% on shots) 108-103. Signed earlier today, Greg Monroe has compiled 11 points and 9 rebounds in 25 minutes for his return to the NBA. Jaylen Brown finished unsuccessfully in the Celtics’ leading scorer with 26 points, ahead of Payton Pritchard with 22 points. Led 79-74 at the start of the last quarter, Wolves finished strong with a 34-24 inflicted on their opponents in the last 12 minutes.

Finally ‘Scary’ Terry hit Charlotte in the Hornets’ 123-99 victory (31-21 in the 2nd quarter, 32-20 in the 3rd) over Houston, with 27 points including 7 3-pointers in this 2nd victory back-to-back, also helped by Kelly Oubre (18), LaMelo Ball (16). Charlotte returns above 50% of victories. For Houston, it’s a 6th defeat in 7 games.
