The Portuguese international striker Gonçalo Guedes, 26, who joined Benfica in January and scored two goals in eight games so far, is recovering very well from last month’s operation, arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Guedes walks with sure steps towards a situation that will allow him to really be reinforcement in the rest of the season. He’s on loan from Wolverhampton until the end of the season, but he’s a player that Benfica want to keep longer, with the estimated recovery period from surgery pointing to six weeks.
According to information found by our newspaper, rehabilitation is taking place within Benfica’s forecasts and the second half of April may well bring an offensive reinforcement for Roger Schmidt, coach of the reds, to attack the rest of the season and that is not little.
It is true that in the matches against FC Porto, Inter (first and second leg, not least because you have to recover not only from a clinical point of view, but also physically), Chaves (away) and Estoril (at Luz) seem too close for Guedes , but things could also depend on Roger Schmidt’s needs.
