João Almeida was confirmed in the 2024 Tour of Spain, as he had a “special motivation” in the initial three stages in Portugal, announced the main sporting director of UAE Emirates, Joxean Fernández Matxín.
Third placed in the Tour of Italy in 2023, João Almeida had already been confirmed on Monday as one of the UAE Emirates members selected for the Tour of France in 2024. «Without a doubt, João [Almeida] has a special motivation. Know the time trial [Lisboa-Cascais] and defends itself on the undulating terrain in the remaining two stages that will be held in Portugal, in which it will certainly put on a show”, began by stating the Spanish leader.

The competition starts with a time trial between Lisbon and Oeiras, lasting 12 kilometers, on August 17, followed by two flat stages, between Cascais and Ourém (191 kilometers) and between Lousã and Castelo Branco (182).
