Portuguese Rider of History Carver at MotoGP

Miguel Oliveira made it out as a winner at MotoGP Styria. This made him make history for Portugal in the event MotoGP.

MotoGP Styria 2020 takes place at Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, Austria, Sunday (23/8/2020) evening WIB. The surprise occurred at the last corner by presenting Oliveira as the champion.

The Portuguese rider finished in front after taking advantage of the exciting competition of Jack Miller and Pol Espargaro in eyeing first place. With the pair getting too deep at the final corner, Oliveira poked Miller and Pol.

This championship title led Oliveira to historical records. He became the first Portuguese to win in MotoGP.

The success of this 25-year-old rider is also KTM’s first victory. The results were extraordinary because KTM was headquartered in Austria. The Styria GP is also a historic race. This moment marks the 900 MotoGP race.

“Today’s history is for me and my country, and I am happier to do it here at the home of KTM,” Oliveira said as quoted by IOL Sport.

Oliveira has entered his second season in MotoGP. His journey in the premier class for the first time in 2019 recorded 33 points from 16 races.

Before becoming a winner, his best race in MotoGP took place at the 2020 Czech MotoGP, finishing in sixth position. Throughout this season Oliveira has collected 43 points, losing 27 points to Fabio Quartararo in the top position.

Oliveira’s journey

Oliveira started racing at the Grand Prix in 2011. She raced in the 125cc class on the Aprilia motorbike for the Andalucia Banca Civica team. No podium was obtained during the 11 races.

A year later, the 125cc class changed to Moto3. The racer who was born in Almada, January 4, 1995, switched to Suter Honda with the Estrella Galicia team. Oliviera won two podiums from 17 races.

Oliveira’s performance in the Moto3 class improved in 2015 with KTM bikes in the Red Bull KTM Ajo team. The first winner in the Grand Prix event was obtained while racing in Italy. In all that season, he won six times.

Oliveira was promoted to Moto2 in 2017. In the last three series, he came out as champion with KTM: in Austria, Malaysia and Valencia. KTM then took him to the MotoGP class in 2019 and still continues to trust Oliveira to this day.
