Portuguese Forward Andre Silva Joins Rangers FC on Loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers

has to make his temporary transfer to Rangers FC. The Portuguese, who played on loan for PSV in the second half of last season, is exchanging Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Scottish top club until the end of this season. It is the third time that the Premier League club has let Silva leave on loan.

Wolverhampton paid no less than forty million euros in the summer of 2020 for the arrival of Silva, who transferred from FC Porto and thus left his home country behind. During his first season in England, Silva made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring six times. The following season he appeared in 28 matches in all competitions, but only played 995 minutes. Wolverhampton decided to let Silva go to Anderlecht on loan in the summer of 2022.

The Portuguese’s period in Belgium lasted only six months. Silva returned early to Wolverhampton, which immediately rented him out to PSV. He made nineteen appearances for PSV, scoring five goals and two assists. Silva was also the scorer of the decisive penalty in the cup final against Ajax. The Amsterdammers were briefly linked with the arrival of the Portuguese last summer, but he ‘simply’ returned to England. However, he was not involved in that in the first half of the season. Silva played ten games. He only scored in the EFL Cup.

So he will finish the season in Scotland. The Scottish top club reported this on Thursday evening on X. No purchase option has been agreed, which means that Silva would normally return to Wolverhampton in the summer. Silva himself already hinted at a departure on his personal X on Thursday. The Portuguese placed an hourglass on his channel. Rangers FC, which is trained by Philippe Clement, currently occupies second place in the Scottish Premiership. The gap to Celtic is five points with two games played.

Silva will be a teammate of Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Sam Lammers in Glasgow. In the past, Dessers was active for NAC Breda, FC Utrecht and Feyenoord, among others. Danilo first wore the Ajax shirt, before switching to Rangers FC last year. Lammers played for PSV and sc Heerenveen.
