Portuguese Cyclist Rui Costa Claims Fourth Grand Tour Stage Victory

Portuguese cyclist prevailed over Lennard Kamna and Santiago Bruitago in a sprint over the finish line; it was the fourth victory in grand tour stages

Rui Costa won the 15th stage of the Tour of Spain today. The former World road champion got the better of a sprint with Lennard Kamna and Santiago Bruitago upon arrival in Lekunberri, after the 158 kilometers covered from Pamplona. The 36-year-old Portuguese, who wears the colors of Intermarché, joined the escape at the right time and intelligently managed the final part.

Rui Costa is the 8th Portuguese to win stages in the Tour of Spain, after João de Jesus Rebelo (1945), João Lourenço (1946), José Carlos Cardoso (1959), Alves Barbosa (1961), Joaquim Agostinho (1974) , Sérgio Paulinho (2006) and Nelson Oliveira (2015).

Overall, the squad reached 2.52 minutes and the North American Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) remains leader, ahead of two teammates: the Slovenian Primoz Roglic is second, at 1.37 minutes, and the Danish Jonas Vingegaard is third, at 1.44.
