Portugal today registers 567 deaths associated with covid-19, 32 more than on Monday, and 17,448 infected (more 514), according to the epidemiological bulletin released by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
The epidemiological situation report, with data updated until midnight on Monday, indicates that the North region is the one with the highest number of deaths (321), followed by the Center (131), the region of Lisbon and Vale Tagus (102) and the Algarve, with nine dead.

The bulletin records four deaths in the Azores.
In relation to Monday, when 535 deaths were registered, today there was a 6% increase (32 more).
According to data provided by DGS, there are 17,448 confirmed cases, plus 514, which represents an increase of 3% compared to Monday.
Of the registered deaths, 370 were over 80 years old, 116 were aged between 70 and 79 years old, 56 between 60 and 69 years old, 18 between 50 and 59 years old and seven deaths between 40 and 49 years old years.
In relation to 17,448 people infected with the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the vast majority – 16,221 (minus 526, -3.2%) – are recovering at home. 1,227 people are hospitalized (over 40, + 3.4%), 218 (over 30, + 6%), of whom in Intensive Care Units.
DGS data state that the municipality of Porto is the one that registers the highest number of cases of coronavirus infection (959), followed by Lisbon (946 cases), Vila Nova de Gaia (884), Matosinhos (768), Gondomar ( 718), Braga (647), Maia (645), Valongo (507), Ovar (435) and Sintra with 404 cases.
Since January 1, 142,514 suspected cases have been recorded, of which 2,474 are awaiting test results.
The epidemiological bulletin also indicates that there are 122,592 cases in which the test results were negative and that the number of recovered patients rose to 347 (there were 277).
The North region continues to record the highest number of infections, totaling 10,302, followed by the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, with 3,994 cases, the Central region (2,549), the Algarve (289) and the Alentejo with 155 cases.
There are still 100 people infected with the covid-19 virus in the Azores and 59 in Madeira.
The DGS also records 23,265 contacts under surveillance by the health authorities (3,724 fewer than on Monday).
The age group most affected by the disease changed from 50 to 59 years old (3,028), followed by the age group from 40 to 49 years old (3,005), from 30 to 39 years old (2,422) and from 60 to 69 years old ( 2,168).
In the elderly, there are 2,638 patients over the age of 80 and 1,626 between the ages of 70 and 79.
There are still 290 cases of children up to nine years old, 451 of young people aged between 10 and 19 years old and between 20 and 29 years old there are 1,820 cases.
Overall, in Portugal there are 10,276 women infected with the new coronavirus and 7,172 men.
According to the report by the Directorate-General for Health, 168 cases result from the importation of the virus from Spain, 123 from France, 75 from the United Kingdom, 45 from Switzerland, 46 from the United Arab Emirates, 32 Andorra, 29 Italy, 27 Brazil, 20 of USA, 18 from Argentina, 17 from the Netherlands, 15 from Australia and 10 from Germany, in addition to several other cases spread over dozens of other countries.
According to DGS, 54% of patients positive for the new coronavirus have cough symptoms, 41% fever, 28% muscle pain, 26% headache, 23% general weakness and 16% breathing difficulty. This information refers to 81% of confirmed cases.
Covid-19, caused by the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, is an acute respiratory infection that can trigger pneumonia.
Portugal, in a state of emergency until April 17 and where the first case was confirmed on March 2, is in the third and most serious phase of response to the disease (Mitigation Phase), activated when there is local transmission, in a closed environment, and / or community transmission.
The new coronavirus has already claimed more than 120,000 deaths and infected more than 1.9 million people worldwide.
Of the cases of infection, about 402 thousand are considered cured.
