Portugal relaxes: nightclubs can open doors again | Abroad

Nightclubs and discotheques are allowed to receive visitors again after being closed for a year and a half. The condition is that the guests can submit a negative test or proof of vaccination. For a stay in a hotel, the obligation to show a health card expires. However, people in indoor areas must continue to wear a face mask. Prime Minister Antonio Costa announced the easing at a press conference on Thursday.

The number of corona infections in Portugal has decreased to less than a thousand per week. At the end of July, Portugal had more than 3000 corona infections every week.

In the southern European country, more than 83 percent of the population is fully vaccinated. This makes Portugal one of the best scoring countries in the world.
