Portugal registers a record of deaths from Covid-19 since February | News

This Thursday, Portugal registered 47 deaths from Covid-19, setting a new daily record since mid-February, according to the National Institute of Health (INSA), in a report on the evolution of the number of positive cases for Covid-19. so far in 2022.

Health specialists assured that the European country registered 26,848 new infected on this day, although a decrease is calculated in relation to those confirmed in the month of May, which suggests that the sixth wave is coming to an end.

On a national scale, in the last 15 days, Portugal has reported a daily average of 26,349 cases, with an incidence rate of 3,528 confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Last week, the Portuguese Government extended the coronavirus alert situation until June 30, keeping in force the measures taken such as the mandatory use of the mask in health centers, residences and public transport; however, adding new ones was ruled out due to the decrease in cases.

The Government of Portugal announced the first infected case of coronavirus on March 2, 2020, a man who entered the country from Italy; Since then he has accumulated almost five million positive cases and 23,243 deaths from the disease.

Statistical data from INSA reveal that it is currently the country on the European continent with the highest number of infections.
