Portugal registers 457 more confirmed cases of Covid-19 and three more deaths – O Jornal Económico

Portugal registers 41,646 confirmed cases of Covid-19 disease, 457 more than yesterday, according to the most epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) presented this Sunday, 7 June. Most new cases are in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region.

The number of fatalities from the new coronavirus in the country has increased to 1,564, which corresponds to three more deaths in the last 24 hours.

The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has a total of 18,752 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 391 more than the previous day. The number of fatalities from the new coronavirus in the Lisbon region increased to 465, two more fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours were in this region.

The epidemiological bulletin released this Sunday indicates that, to date, 37,6815 suspected cases have been recorded and 1,511 people are still awaiting the results of Covid-19’s laboratory tests.

There are currently 311,922 unconfirmed cases after the analyzes and 30,658 are under surveillance by health authorities.

DGS reveals that there are currently 17,476 cases registered in the North, 4,094 in the Center, 612 in the Algarve, 149 cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, 92 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and 471 cases in the Alentejo. Of the total of 1,564 deaths, 816 were in the North, 248 in the Center, 15 in the Azores, five in the Alentejo, with none registered in Madeira.

There are currently 458 hospitalized, of which 75 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 27,066 cases recovered in Portugal. In terms of symptoms, 37% had a cough, 28% a fever, 21% muscle pain, 20% headache, 15% general weakness and 10% experienced difficulties in breathing.

Regarding fatalities, 781 are men (455 over 80 years old) and 783 women (593 over 80 years old).
