Portugal has qualified for the Women’s World Cup and will be the Dutch opponent in the group stage. It was previously known that the Netherlands had been assigned to the group stage with Vietnam and the reigning world champion United States
In New Zealand, which hosts the upcoming World Cup together with Australia, Portugal won 2-1 against Cameroon in the play-offs. In the other jump-off game, Haiti secured the final round by beating Chile with the same figures.
Portugal debuts at the world championship, but was already active at the European Championship. Last summer, the country was also an opponent of the Orange in the group stage. Daniëlle van de Donk then blasted an injured and corona-plagued Netherlands to victory (3-2) in the second group match.
At the European Championship last summer, the Netherlands was still 3-2 too strong for Portugal:

At the upcoming world championship, the Orange will probably not be in its strongest line-up either, because it is virtually impossible that all-time top scorer Vivianne Miedema will have recovered after her serious knee injury.
The Dutch practiced against Austria twice this week, with varying degrees of success. After a 2-1 defeat, revenge was taken on Tuesday with a 4-0 victory.
Also this season we follow the football players of Orange with “In the trail of Orange”. The new episode will appear on Wednesday afternoon on NOS.nl, in the NOS app and on our YouTube channel. Watch last weekend’s episode here.
