EFE.- A Bernardo Silva inspired marked this Thursday the way to Portugal with two assists for João cancel y Gonçalo Guedes certified the 2-0 victory against Czech Republic, who failed to be a rival for the Portuguese.
With its second consecutive victory, Portugal remains leader of group A2 of the League of Nations, with a two-point advantage over Spain, after a match in Lisbon in which the Manchester City player shone and received a standing ovation from the public.
Silva helped Portugal to find gaps against the Czech team, which came out well planted on the pitch but failed to question the victory of the Portuguese, led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The start of the game confirmed what Fernando Santos had already anticipated, that the ball would be in the hands of Portugal, with the Czech Republic waiting to see where the Portuguese came from.
But Portugal ended up finding the spaces in the 33rd minute, thanks to Bernardo Silva and his combination with a player he knows well because they share the bench at Manchester City.
From the right flank, he launched Cancelo into the area and the winger scored for the second consecutive game, to put the hosts ahead.
And with the can open, the spaces open, Gonçalo Guedes only took five minutes to extend the Portuguese advantage, with a cross shot after assistance from, once again, Bernardo Silva.
The Portuguese thus added their second victory in this League of Nations, after thrashing Switzerland (4-0) and drawing with Spain (1-1), while the Czech Republic suffered its first defeat. Before, they beat Switzerland (2-1) and tied with Spain (2-2).
SPAIN FINALLY WINS
The Spanish team met again with the victory in Geneva against Switzerland (0-1) thanks to a goal from Sarabia, which allows them to continue fighting for first place in the group.
Spain finally won their third match in the League of Nations, but they did so suffering and dull.
In the first half Luis Enrique’s men comfortably subdued their rival through long possessions and a goal from Sarabia before the first quarter of an hour put everything in their face against an anesthetized Switzerland.
The three points are worth it to continue with options to enter the final phase next year, but Spain continues to sow doubts.
