Boxer Caroline Cruveillier is flying to Istanbul on May 6, heading to the Women’s World Boxing Championships. The 24-year-old medalist from Istres is one of the young hopefuls of the south-east of France. She is already preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games.

At the age of 24, Caroline Cruveillier already has an impressive track record. She is French champion under 54 kg, twice European champion and even vice-champion of the world of English boxing.

It was at the age of twelve that she put on her first boxing gloves at Pennes-Mirabeau, about twenty kilometers from Marseille.

“I wanted to do like my brother my mother was a little reluctant then she understood that it was not a violent sport but very technical”, says Caroline.

At 14, she joined the France team. At 18, she is recognized as a top athlete by the French Boxing Federation.

Boxing is a sport of confrontation as in life you cannot cheat when you fight you are alone.

This ring enthusiast is one of the young hopefuls of our region. She trains four hours a day in Istres, in view of the women’s world championships which will take place from May 6 to 21 in Istanbul, Turkey.

“She’s a winner” confirms James Colas his trainer for a year.

“She has a good boxing, she is a very good technician, she is intelligent in the ring”, he adds.

In 2021, the boxer injured her shoulder. She is forced to stop for five months. “It was a complicated period but I kept the motivation.”

Caroline doesn’t give up. She approaches this championship with a lot of serenity because after her injury she wants above all “regain confidence.”

On the phone, you see determination. If she goes to Istanbul, it’s to win a medal.

“I am one of the expected girls, I have to win.”

This Friday, May 29, she is leaving for four days in Nancy to train with the France team, it is her last training camp before the world championships.

In the background of this championship there are the Olympic Games which will take place in two years.

Caroline is already preparing, she is often on the move with the France team, she tells us about the importance of physical preparation.

“You have to have a good eye, finish the actions, be precise on the shots.”

Her coach describes her as a fighter, endearing, who does everything possible to succeed. “If she is the number one in the France team it is thanks to her work.”

The champion is impatiently awaiting the qualifications for the Olympics, which begin next year. The boxing events should take place from July 27 to August 10 at the Roland-Garros stadium.
