Porto walked by Tomás (and not even the PSP was indifferent)

A group of Porto citizens organized this Sunday a solidarity walk to raise awareness of the population of that city about the cause of little Tomás, from Braga, who needs financial help to carry out treatments against aggressive cancer in Barcelona and in the United States of America.

During this morning, the group, duly authorized by the authorities, walked along the bank of the Douro River, delivering small information leaflets on this cause.

In a brief note published on social networks, Tomás’ parents show themselves with a “full heart”, thanking the people of Porto for the initiative, where neither PSP agents lacked support.

Little Tomás, 7, needs financial help to get cancer treatment abroad. For this purpose, a solidarity account was created to help parents, who live in the municipality of Braga.

Parents explain that, on September 20, 2019, Tomás was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma, an aggressive and invasive cancer. A few days later, on October 1st, he was diagnosed with an amplification of MYCN, the “most terrible, aggressive and invasive form of cancer” within neuroblastoma.

After several treatments in Portugal, everything seemed to be well on track for the boy’s recovery, but last week, a “bomb” fell on that family’s life, when they realized that the same cancer had returned.

“Stunning, overwhelming pain was part of this day. We had gone through so many trials, Tomás has already suffered so much with so many treatments and after all the treatments in Portugal proved to be ineffective because the cancer came back ”, vent the parents, who decided“ not to give up ”.

“After all, we have always been volunteers in a thousand and one solidarity projects, we have always been the ones who helped and did not ask for help”, indicate the parents, adding that they have always been refusing help over the past year.

However, the situation has changed, and now the family’s goal is to be able to take Tomás to Barcelona and the United States of America for treatments that have “a very high cost”.

Parents reveal that little Tomás has already undergone eight cycles of chemotherapy, a highly invasive surgery, an autotransplant that confined him to a room for a month and a half, several cycles of radiotherapy and three cycles of immunotherapy

“Still, I always recovered and smiled. He’s a fighter and he deserves to fight for him ”, write the parents.

“So, however difficult it may be for us, we are asking for the help that each one can and wants to give so that we can go with Tomás to Barcelona and the United States to do the targeted treatments in agreement with the clinical team that accompanies Tomás in Porto IPO and that can save you to continue your dreams of being a football player and learning martial arts to teach manna Constança ”, they add.
