(ANSA) – VOLTERRA (PISA), 05 MAY – A portion of the medieval walls of Volterra (Pisa) collapsed this morning in the San Felice area and stones, soil and debris spilled into the street. One person was injured, slightly, as explained by governor Eugenio Giani. Municipal civil protection personnel, law enforcement, 118 and firefighters were on site: to avoid the involvement of other people, a dog unit was alerted. Some witnesses would have heard a sudden roar. The collapse was apparently due to a structural failure and the debris invaded provincial road 15 which is now closed to traffic. “Certainly a minor injury at the moment but further checks are underway with the Fire Brigade, we have also activated our Pegaso of the Tuscany Region already on site. I thank the Regional 112 Central, the health emergency system, the Fire Brigade and all the rescuers for the timely intervention”, wrote Giani on social media (ANSA).
